Why CSG?
Saving Fire Service Careers since 2006
Administrative safety violations are the root of most firefighter personnel actions, terminations, and workplace lawsuits. These are all stressful and costly events that impact morale and public trust. Additionally, administrative safety violations frequently derail the agency’s efforts at recruitment and inclusion.
For more than a decade, Career Survival Group has been established as the premier resource for addressing fire service administrative safety having provided Career Survival training to more than 100 agencies in the US and Canada and thousands of firefighters.
Our experience fills in the gaps created by existing “check the box” administrative trainings. Our “boots on the ground” approach clarifies risks and models familiar operational safety formulas
Testimonials
“..the best class i have ever attended…”
Type of Service: Career Survival Training
Rank of Commenter: Chief Officer
After 33 years of fire service work, and training, I can say this is the best class I have ever attended regarding an administrative function of my job. The content was delivered with poignant seriousness regarding the risks, and interjected with plenty of “civil service” humor to keep it fun. The instructors get what firefighters are all about, and how good people can make poor choices and end up in a lot of trouble. It would be great if this could be delivered to all academy classes, officer development programs, and chief officer professional development programs.
I don’t want to be a “spoiler” so I wont share the details, but the final testimony was incredibly powerful.

Wonderful Class
Type of Service: Career Survival Training

What an exceptional class! Career Survival Training goes above and beyond what is delivered in a typical fire service class. This class fixes many of the things wrong with the usual – and often just plain awful – “scared straight” approach to reducing risks related to behavior in the firehouse. With a mix of humor and heart, Eric ultimately crafts a story of why kindness, fairness, grace, and compassion serves all of us. I’m not leaving his class motivated by fear of consequences, but by an honest and earnest desire to protect and care for the people I work with. One of the top three fire service classes I have taken in my 15+ years.
