Almost every week we learn of firefighters and chiefs losing their jobs over predictable behaviors. We also hear of lawsuits based on hostile work environments. These suits result in intense, public scrutiny. It is our experience that the common cause of the problems is culture that is not getting fixed by online computer training and/or traditional HR training methods.
The average employee termination can cost taxpayers up to five time that employees salary. The average lawsuit will cost the agency tens of thousands in internal costs to defend, possibly hundreds of thousands in damages if the agency loses a case and a generation to heal the morale. However, it is our experience that the agency that never has the “Administrative Near Miss” will save time, money; and, more importantly, preserve morale and operational effectiveness.
